How to Reach Parrot Island
1. Travel from Port Blair to Baratang Island
Leave early in the morning (around 3:30 AM) to catch the first forest convoy through the Jarawa Forest Reserve.
Drive for about 2.5 to 3 hours to reach the Middle Strait Jetty.
Take a short boat ride to Baratang Island.
2. Stay Overnight in Baratang
Since parrots return only in the evening, book a local guest house or eco stay in Baratang.
3. Evening Boat Ride to Parrot Island
At around 4:30 PM to 5:00 PM, take a private boat ride from Baratang Jetty. The ride takes 10–15 minutes. Your boatman will stop near the island so you can enjoy the birds arriving.
Best Time to Visit Parrot Island
The best time to visit Parrot Island is during the dry season — October to March. The weather is clear, sunsets are beautiful, and birds are active.
Avoid the monsoon season (June to September), as boat rides may be canceled due to rain or rough sea conditions.
