Interview Island is one of the most remote and unexplored islands in North Andaman, located near Mayabunder. It is famous for its dense tropical forest, wild elephants, and untouched natural beauty. The island is part of a protected wildlife sanctuary, which means there are no hotels, shops, or tourist crowds. This makes Interview Island a perfect place for travelers who want to experience the real jungle side of the Andaman Islands. Thick forests, fresh air, silence, and wildlife make this island truly special and different from other tourist places in Andaman.

Speciality of Interview Island

The biggest speciality of Interview Island is its wild elephants, which live freely in the forest. These elephants were brought here many years ago during logging operations and later became part of the natural ecosystem. Apart from elephants, the island is home to spotted deer, wild boar, monitor lizards, snakes, and many bird species. The island has thick rainforest, freshwater streams, and coastal forest, making it one of the best places for eco‑tourism and wildlife exploration in Andaman. It offers a raw and natural experience that very few places can match.

To reach Interview Island, you must first travel to Mayabunder from Port Blair by road via Andaman Trunk Road or by government ferry. From Mayabunder, Interview Island can be reached only by boat, usually arranged through local operators or the Forest Department. Since Interview Island is a protected area, prior permission is required to visit. The boat journey offers beautiful sea views and adds adventure to the trip.

Best Time to Visit Interview Island

The best time to visit Interview Island is from November to April. During this period, the weather in North Andaman is dry and pleasant, and the sea is calm, making boat travel safe. This season is also best for wildlife spotting, forest walks, and photography. The monsoon season from June to September should be avoided because heavy rain and rough sea conditions may stop boat services and forest entry.
